Blinds for a Grade II Listed Cathedral Conversion
Solar completed a major project at the Pro Cathedral in Clifton, Bristol. Student Castle, a client Solar had previously worked with in Cardiff, embarked on a £12 million development to transform the Grade II listed cathedral into luxury student accommodation. Two new tower blocks were constructed alongside the cathedral to add a modern counterpoint to the building’s traditional architecture.

How the Project Came Together
Working With the Project Team
Solar worked alongside VINCI Construction, responsible for the building transformation, and interior fit-out company OEP to help create a high-quality living environment for students.
Blackout Blinds for Bedrooms
System 40 blackout roller blinds were installed throughout bedrooms in the new-build blocks and the Pro Cathedral. They suited the stylish pod accommodation while providing the blackout performance needed for sleeping and study spaces.
A Solution for Roof Windows
Blackout pleated blinds were installed in the cathedral skylights to prevent light seepage into bedrooms at night. Spring-tensioned systems provided a practical solution for the unusual roof-window shapes and sizes while maintaining the modern interior finish.
The Completed Installation
Solar was proud to contribute to an unusual, high-quality conversion that created an impressive standard of student accommodation in Bristol.
